Above you have a Wellsville landmark that has made me who I am today. I'm not trying to say that the
Pastime bar was my sole cultural influence prior to this Better Days gig but it was a big part of my life. You
see before we owned Better Days the choices for a good hangout were limited to PJ's and the Pastime.
Being a classic country music fan and one with great respect for the simple things in life I have always
found a home at the Pastime. It is no secret that I have many times chosen to spend an evening out there
instead of that more refined place called Better Days. My fondest memories of the Pastime are when I first
turned 21 and had broken up with my girlfriend. I spent hours, days, weeks straight sitting in there
drowning my sorrows, playing Merle Haggard hits like "The Bottle Let Me Down" and "Daddy Frank(the
guitar man)". I can still remember sitting at the bar, drinking beer, and listening to the music that nobody
understands until you are actually in a bar, brokenhearted, drinking luke warm beer. The people were
always rough but kind and I made alot of friends there.
Sadly the Pastime is going the way of the buffalo and is closing down, being torn down, and turned into a
parking lot. Money talks they say but I can't figure out why anyone would trade a good old honky tonk bar
for a little more parking lot. Well like I said to her directly the other day......Good bye Pastimes....I love you!!
