What an interesting thing to be around for such a global perspective change, a
polarization of the whole planets consciousness. Watching the election online last night
was powerful considering the number of humans that were watching, hoping, and then
celebrating the same thing at the same time. It was that important and uplifting to see
such a dramatic change unfold and it seemed the prevailing feeling worldwide was relief
and hope that things will get better. I imagine that if Obama had lost the prevailing sense
and perception would be much less inspiring. He seems like a good man and I'm one
Republican who is glad his party lost....they deserved it.
I had an interesting voting experience at the local union hall where I am still not "on the
books" after three years of affidavit voting. Maybe its my confusion, maybe it's the
election board's fault, maybe its a conspiracy to silence my vote. Regardless I had to sit
at an elevated desk to do my paperwork so I got to watch the people for a while. Little old
couples who get all dressed up to vote, stand proudly in line, and take the whole day
seriously. Then there are the really excited people who act like they are voting for the first
time and maybe when they pull the lever a prize will pop out of the machine. One young
lady was especially funny when she walked in the room and hollered,
"excuse me? Election officials? I'm in the Green Party and can I vote in this election?".
Everyone just looked at her while the officials answered her question and she accepted
but with some disappointment. I sensed she was hoping to be told no and she'd be able
to make a fuss about being discriminated against for being "Green".
As I was leaving the hall an older lady stopped me and said "why would you do that to
your hair? Your such a nice looking boy... Its a shame"
I answered with the usual "well ma'am the voices in my head told me to do it and I'm still a
nice looking young boy." Ha
