Verizon, our regional phone monopoly, needs some bad publicity to discourage there
profiteering ways.  This is all I have to personally project bad publicity so I'll explain the
problem.
First we'll discuss the pub's phone accounts. We have two, a payphone and standard
business landline.  The payphone account has recently become an expense and it was a
source of revenue.  Apparently our payphone isn't generating sufficient revenue so the
Verizon people called and told me "either we take the phone out or you'll have to pay a
hundred dollars a month to keep it in your location".  The booth itself is an antique wooden
booth with an overhead light and a venhilation fan, worth some money.  Supposedly it was a
gift to a previous owner from his grandfather who worked for the phone company.  I told the
Verizon lady that and she barked back that "it certainly wasn't our booth that Verizon owns
every phone booth in operation."  After a pointless argument I agreed to pay the rent so we
wouldn't lose our main incoming line and the antique booth.   Now they get all the money put
into the phone and my hundred bucks.  We still have to get this straightened out so I'll let you
know.
Our regular phone line has been costing us around one hundred fifty dollars a month
between local, regional, and long distance.  According to all the phone people this was
unavoidable because we use a shared line to operate our lotto terminal.  Last week Verzion
called and told me just the opposite: that we only needed to pay a flat montly fee for
everything.  Basically we've been paying $150 per month for the last sixty months and moving
forward we will be paying $42 per month after this new arrangement.  I asked why all of a
sudden this plan was available and they didn't have an answer.  I want my $6480 back.
Now lets talk about the biggest fraud of all: Verizon Wireless and there band of ruthless
saleswhores.  After avoiding the use of a cellphone for three years I was forced to get one to
be able to communicate from the cabin in the woods.  Not happy to have one of these
tracking devices I decided to make lemonade and get the fanciest, coolest phone available.
So the salesmanwhore sold me "The Chocolate": a phone, camera, and Ipod all in one that
was able to watch live newscasts and web events.  We'll first I figured out that I'd like to
charge the battery in my vehicle(which I can't drive).  They don't include car charges with the
phone and they charge $60 for the adapter....but they aren't available.  Next I started taking
pictures of drunk people for the web site and figured out that they didn't include the cord to
connect to my PC.  That cord is $95 and you guessed it they don't have it available yet.  If
you want to download songs onto the phone that requires another adapter which is another
$95 bucks......not available in this market yet.  And that ability to view live web casts and the
like....not available in this area yet.  What in Sam Hill is going on????  I buy a two hundred
dollar phone and it costs me another three hundred to use it.  I feel used.
All I can say is that I was a sucker and I hope that salesmanwhore enjoyed is $8
commission.  Watch out for the grief birds Verizon.....they've been launched in your direction.
