BLOCK PARTY UPDATE I just had a good talk about the Aug 29th Block Party with the SPCA PR Department, Lynda Opiela, and we confirmed that indeed this party will benefit the local SPCA Shelter. So far it looks like the party will be separated by the sun, BBQ and Band in the pub before the sun goes down, Block Party after she sets. We will encourage familys and folks who aren't interested in dancin in the streets to come to the BBQ. The street will close at 8pm and only those of age will be allowed to hang for the "Mysterious Blues Band". Check out the package here.....
3 PIECE POWERHOUSE Speaking of the "Mysterious Blues Band"...wow...they played the pub on Saturday night at caused the building to levitate for a few minutes at one point. The place was pretty dead due to Chin & Nancy's annual bash but we still had a dandy time. A true three piece powerhouse like mamma likes.....The lead guitar guy is simply possessed by demons(Hendrix, Allman, Garcia kinda demons), bass guitar player Dan is super charged and coupled with Ken's ravenous big beat you have a truly dynamic sound. The pub fills with spiraling sound, lights flicker, ufo's orbit, the whole shooting match. Don't miss them at the block party this year!!!!
LIVE MUSIC ALL THIS WEEKEND This weekend we have two other killer bands from the Rochester area... Friday is "The Rhythm Dogs", who have played the pub before but its been a year or so. A five piece band, dual lead guitars, horn section included, promise to deliver a robust rock n blues show. Saturday we will hold our annual Jerry Garcia Birthday Bash with our kind friends "Good Push", parts and pieces of bands like "Those Rusty Strings", "Sanduleak", and "Street Level". They know the Grateful Dead family of music like no one else so please stop by and pay your respects to the man and the music!
MCDONALDS CHICKEN PROTESTS Many of you know that I am big chicken fan and a supporter of most of what PETA does to protect animals. Without getting into a larger debate about animal rights I think you will all agree with my anger over poultry abuse. Thanks crooked politics, poultry(rabbits included) are not provided protection under the Humane Slaughter Act. Basically this means that they can be raised, abused, and killed in even the most disgraceful ways imaginable. Most major poultry producers, and most major restaurant chains have acquiesced to concerns and have eliminated inhumane slaughter methods. Controlled-Atmosphere Killing(CAK) is what we are asking for instead of the old 'hang, cut, scald' method. It simply puts the birds to sleep before processing and McDonald's is not only the largest chicken consumer in the world, it is one of the few who refuse to upgrade to CAK. For the love of life stop eating McDonald's food until they agree to change and only sell chicken that is processed properly and humanely. Here is what you can do now and I promise if this issue is not settled soon we will march on local Happy Meal Huts.....
