The special old school blog is to announce a new menu, the first revision in almost two years!! For the first time in a decade we are not removing anything from the menu. All of our weekly promotions are the same and we tried hard to only 'lightly' raise our prices.
A few fifty cent increases here and there, along with a $.25 per takeout container charge. The take out container charge is because we are committed to using as much biodegradable material as possible. It is almost three times the cost of Styrofoam but we hope you agree its well worth the quarter to reduce our petroleum usage. These containers(and also our clear dressing containers, no charge for them) are all fully biodegradable so you can toss them in the mulch or compost pile.
The largest price increase, and the most in need of explanation is the $1 surcharge we are adding to every order of chicken wings. To be honest, chicken wing prices are reasonable, this is not a price increase per Se. We are going to be donating 100% of this surcharge to the Allegany County SPCA, to be used specifically for a much needed relocation of the shelter. Every month we will cut a check to the SPCA and announce the amount generated. Based on historical data we sell between five and six hundred orders of wings a month so you can see how this has some real fundraising potential!! We hope you will agree and it is a very worthwhile endeavor. Hundreds of homeless companion animals currently need homes and many new orphans appear almost daily. Back on the menu subject and we have the pleasure of announcing a new Vegetarian section of our menu. Three items have been added, Angel Hair Pasta with your choice of a garlic herb sauce, classic marinara, or Neapolitan sauce; Sauteed Italian Tofu Salad or Wrap; Zataran's Red Beans & Rice Plate. All of these are personal favorites and can be 'tweaked' to your tastes. Stop in to Better Days for great meat free meals that are good for you and literally reduce your footprint.
The other new addition to the menu will keep all you meat and seafood lovers happy. Every Saturday we will be featuring a Surf & Turf Dinner special. We will have varied cuts of beef each week, depending on availability from local farms you can trust. The seafood half of the combination will also change from week to week. Some of the Saturday specials we have planned are: Chargrilled NY Strip Steak and BBQ Jumbo Shrimp----- Beef Tenderloin with Pan Seared Sea Scallops---- Slow Roasted Sirloin with Petite Maryland Crab Cakes...... food for thought!!
