The Cosmic Hens -
Lucy, Lu Lu, Graybird,
Beatrice, Gertrude, Mary,
Phatty, Redbird,
3SillyGooses, of course
Rotten Roger the
Fearless Clueless
Rooster.
RIP Bloody Mary &
Greta the Runt

The remaining dozen
are celebrating a major
accomplishment for a
chicken---reaching two
years old!! Here is a little
collage of the girls from
chics to bossy hens.
Beatrice, aka BB BABY, would like to take this opportunity to
make you aware of the terrible, ghastly treatment that many
chickens endure for eggs and meat.  Currently chickens are
not covered under the Humane Slaughter Act and are subject
to terrible confinement, de-beaking, painful death, and even
disembowelment and scalding.  What can you do? Stop
supporting fast food restaurants that refuse to use Controlled
Atmosphere Killing.  McDonalds & KFC are a few....visit

This is a picture of the late,
great Greta the Runt.
She died last November but
we still talk and cluck about
her all the time.  In her
memory we'd like to make
sure that you are aware that
you can stop supporting
commercial egg production
and switch to locally raised,
all natural eggs anytime.
Windy Ridge Poultry Farm
in Alfred sells there
products locally at both
Kinfold Grocery in Alfred
and Giant Food Mart in
Wellsville
This is Graybird, the queen of the flock.  On her
birthday she will be treated to fresh grain, seed, and
some fresh greens.  Did you know that many
commercially raised chickens are fed meat
bi-products packed with hormones to encourage
rapid growth? This often results in skeletal collapse
and unquestionable suffering.
One of the 3 Silly Gooses, The
Bearded Lady, loves to lay eggs in the
house.  A noisy gal, she loves to
scquak and cackle while she leaves
breakfast in the cupboard.  Her eggs
are gifts, a source of life, and they
shouldn't be sold for .99cents a dozen.
Please only eat eggs from a local
source and make sure the hens are
free to range....maybe not to this
extent but everyone deserves green
grass and fresh air!!
Another Silly Goose, BRoody, has just
recently survived a raacoon attack that
left her blind in one eye.  A big thank
you to Dixie & Briar for saving her and
driving the coon back to the forest.
We are glad she lived to see the
terrible 2's!!
A close up of Graybird surely must
convince you that these are beautiful,
sentinel creatures.  They play, quarrel,
beg, bath, and bask in life just like we
do.  They deserve humane treatment
and until we stop supporting fast food
and retailers who turn a blind eye to
that lack of humane treatment they will
continue to suffer.
Last but not least is a picture
of me and the late Bloody
Mary.  She got her name
because her big red comb
would often get injured and
blood would cover her white
body.  It looked alot worse
than it was....  In her memory
take a second and sign a
petition being circulated by
the lovely Pink....
