Saturday nights annual 'fishing derby'
performance by "Simpleton" was, as usual, a full
house and it was loud. By the end of the night I
couldn't hear anything...just lip reading. As one
of the Kear brothers said so eloquently "We're
Simpleton and we like to get drunk and play
music". They did and it was a good show...bass
players on the bar...random guest fishermen
singing.... and lots of young faces. We were
raising money for the local FAST team, which
Steve Kear is a member. FAST is the group of
highly trained volunteer firefighters who are
experts in rescuing emergency personnel. Be it
a collapsed structure or missing firefighter they
call FAST to provide quick help. Recently they
have had massive funding cuts and we hope
that our $340 will help in some way. Thanks to
the 135 or so folks who paid the cover to
support local live music and our local
emergency services!!!!
