After much hair pulling, nail biting, drunkenness, and procrastination in hopes of a better idea I have
launched a community site on Facebook called THE WELLSVILLE SUN.
Obviously if you follow this blog you know that I like to write...actually I must write. Call it an overactive mind,
or oversized ego....if I don't release the thoughts from the brain I get crazy. To be honest it took a long
morning laying in bed with a good old fashioned panic attack for me to acknowledge that a build up was
occurring.
My hiatus from donating a weekly column to the Wellsville Daily Reporter has caused a great build up in and
around my cerebrum. I can not continue to be associated with anyone who won't stop putting the pictures
of dead animals and drug addicts next to me in a bunny suit.
As a born-again lover of all life, I feel that shooting animals for sport is wrong. If you must hunt to feed
yourself or your family because you have no money and would otherwise starve to death...fine. Shooting
the bucks with the biggest racks, the turkey with the longest beard, or the biggest bear is a mentality that I
find morally flawed. As a man who was mired in bloodlust most of my life I do understand the culture and
the hollow justification for sport hunting. Live and let live.....
Putting a recently arrested drug addict on the front page of the paper does two things: 1)it disgraces the
addict and burns a stigma into their already sad status. 2) it makes Wellsville look like a drug den. Anyone
who would consider investing in Wellsville will think twice, especially if they read the blogs!!!! Our drug
problem is no better or worse than any group of 5000 people in the country. If they started putting pictures
of all the folks arrested for drunk driving??? Funny thought!
Now I am on my own but hopefully not for long. The goal of this Facebook page is to allow anyone who
joins the page, a real name, and an interest to post. Promote your fundraiser, local event, or new business.
Put up a funny picture of your uncle on his birthday, post a video of your kids soccer game, write a essay
about a local issue that needs attention. Report on news!!! Become a columnist!!!! Help organize and
promote Wellsville and Allegany County!! If you don't who will?
