Here is a bunch of recent pictures...all of them have a little story to go with the picture.

The spring air has been making the
cosmic hens act real strange! This
hen is nesting in my kitchen cupboard
after a week of trying to keep her
outside. She would hide near the door
and once it was open she would dash
into the house.... Finally I decided to
let her stay and take care of
business...talk about fresh eggs for
breakfast!!!
Ah...wild oyster mushrooms
have been bursting out of the
forest the last few weeks!
These truly gourmet
mushrooms smell a little like
licorice and have a mild pepper
flavor. A great source of
Lovastatin which is a proven
cholesteral reducer, makes
these oysters of the trees one
of springs great gifts...
One thing about spring...bugs. Here we have a junebug, a quarter sized beetle that emerges from underground to
reproduce and die. The beautiful Luna moth is in the same stage of life and this girl came crashing onto the porch like a
helicopter out of control. Spiders like this, which is about three inches long, hunt these dieing animals. This spider had
dark green eyes and you could see him watch the camera. Sadly all three of these "bugs" were ripped limb from limb by a
ruthless flock of chickens...
Above we have Dixie guarding the leek
diggers on a steep southern slope.
Dixie is the consumate watchdog and
will always find the best place to watch
for trouble. And if she finds it you get
a real laugh out of her running home
double fast....
Below are trilliums...white and
scarlet...the first flower of the year
