So for all you folks that would rather socialize without the live background music this weekend is for you!!! Memorial
Day weekend is traditionally a slow one so we thought it wise to not have any bands....never fear....our weekends are
packed with great bands through August so enjoy the break in the action.....
Next weekend we have a unique event planned to feature some kick ass NYS wine!!! The Leonard Oakes Estate
Winery will be at the pub to showcase some of there product. The highlight will be its recent double gold medal
winner....Frontenac..... I tried it at a food show not to long ago and it was a great dry red. Its quite an
accomplishment as anyone who hunts for good NYS dry red wines. Even if your not a wine snob you may find
something more basic that you really like. Check them out on the web and hope to see you at 6pm Friday August

Memorial Day weekend always gets me kinda guilty.... we observe this holiday to
remember those who died to protect our country. The loss of life we have endured is
staggering....Iwo Jima (2,420 US Marines were killed on the first day!), Normandy
(29,000 dead; 106,000 wounded), The Korean War (36,516 dead; 103,284 wounded),
The Vietman War (58,209 dead; 153,303 wounded). Our current War on Terror has
cost us dearly as well....5,385 dead, 30,000+ wounded. We can't thank those folks
who have died but we can surely take a moment to remember them and ponder what
our world would be like had they not made the ultimate sacrifice...
