The young lady to your right is "Lily" a two month old
Great Dane puppy who by fate and luck had her life
saved by the kind people at The Wellsville Veterinary
Hospital. Dr. Lopez and staff received "Lily" from an
owner who wanted her euthanized because she suffers
from an abnormality called Persistent Right Aortic Arch
(PRAA). This rendered "Lily" unable to eat solid food
and constantly vomiting which has resulted in her frail
condition. In order to survive she needed a very
expensive surgery, which will allow her to live a normal
life. Her previous owners declined to pay for this surgery
and asked Dr. Lopez to euthanize her. Dr. Lopez and his
staff refused to allow this young lady to die over a few
thousand dollars. Out of kindness the crew at The
Wellsville Veterinary Hospital has financed this urgent
surgery and "Lily" is scheduled for surgery soon. Once
she recovers she will return to Wellsville and will be
adopted to a good home. UPDATES BELOW....
Most vet hospitals would not consider getting into this
business of saving unwanted, medically challenged
animals at there own expense. They would be bankrupt
in short order. Dr. Lopez and company are the kind of
animal hospital that will do anything within reason to save
a life. It is a very noble stance to take and hopefully
when you look at this gorgeous long legged lady you will
agree that her life is worth more than gold.
Better Days held several fund raisers and the Orchard
Park Veterinary Clinic made a generous donation of
services in order to help finance Lily's surgery. Lily
recovered from her procedure and was adopted to a
loving family who has another Great Dane. A true
success story!!!
Fundraising updates!!!!
4/13 9pm Wow... three hours into the fund raiser and three people have
pitched it.... the first two would be the most important.
Rose Dahar - $1... "if everyone who walked into Better Days over the next
month gave just one dollar"
Gretchen Probst- $5 "if everyone with any wealth that walked into Better
Days over the next month gave just five dollars we'd have this paid for in a
week!"
Maureen Harris- $50 "That's a great story & awesome that Dr. Lopez & crew
are willing to do this."
4/15 LILY HAS HAD HER PROCEDURE AND IS RECOVERING IN HOSPITAL.
EVERYTHING WENT WELL AND SHE WILL BE BACK IN WELLSVILLE
RE-COOPERATING SOON!!! We are thankful for this :)
4/16 As of 10:20 Friday night we have raised over $1000 thanks to people
like Gregg & Stanny Shear who gave $250 and thanks to thier
granddaughter Izzy who gave $50. A very kind local family donated $400,
and people like Sharon Haney gave $10. When people who value a
beautiful living thing like Lily are asked to help they do so without hesitation
and that is as beautiful as her. Your support is not just plain sweet but
motivating.
4/19 I just dropped of over a thousand dollars to Dr. Lopez and met Lily in
person. She seems to be recovering well, in fact as the pics below testify
she is moving all the time. Lily personally asked me to thank everyone who
has helped with the saving of her life...she is full of joy.
The Orchard Park Veterinary Clinic has graciously made this fundraising
effort much easier by providing a huge discount on the original $4000 bill.
Thanks to them our new goal is $2200, of which we are over half way toward
achieveing..... APRIL 30TH will be the end of this particular effort and we will
celebrate with "Captain Jack's Blues Band". Hope you can attend!!!
4/30 THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THIS FUNDRAISER!!! We have raised
the goal of $1500 to pay for half of this surgery!!

Thanks for visiting the temporary home of Lily's Fund. Like
Lily, many animals are abandoned or neglected by people who
