Just before we were about to give up
hope.  Just before we were about to
resort to another chronicle with
Garwood in absentia. Dave shows up
at the bar in an outfit that was so
controversial we wouldn't let him in the
bar.  Short cut off shorts, a leather
vest that would fit a 10 year old girl,
and a black cowboy hat.  Sorry no
picture available.

We sent Dave home to change and he
came back to Better Days for a few
welcome home drinks.  Just like last
time Dave journeyed up to see his
friend from Gowanda.  While he was
on his trip the Barbarosa got some
teeth pulled, cut alot of wood at a
cabin were he camped for a few days.
He traded to wood cutting for some
cigarettes and some beers.

Dave started his trip back to Wellsville
and was forced to return to his friends
house by the NYS Police.  Apparently
hitchhiking is illegal these days in Erie
County.  Dave decided to wait out the
over zealous troopers and set off
again for home.  First he caught a ride
from Gowanda to Salamanca.  Just
outside the new casino in Salamanca
he hitched a ride from some "
cool
dude in a black pickup
" to  the
Allegany exit.  Getting dropped off on
the off ramp "
I kinda just stood around
trying to figure out what to do
".
"All of a sudden this car stops on the
highway and some guy yells
'Garwood!, You need a ride to
Wellsville?'" Amazed at being
recognized that quickly Dave ran over
to the car and hopped in.  Turns out
the driver was a good friend of his
mothers and remembered him as a
frequent hitchhiker.  So Dave got a
ride directly to Better Days, which
happened to be open on a rare
Sunday, and got rip roarin' drunk.
Good day for old Dave.
Here's Dave with his good pal 007 sharing a toast
to Dave's successful journey.  Behind these fellas
is Garner Wells, the man who Wellsville was named
after.  Garner is part of an ongoing display at
Better Days, a pictorial history of Allegany County,
sponsored by the Wellsville Daily Reporter.
